Carolyn Layson
1st Vice President
Lion Carolyn Layson grew up in Hood River and has called The Dalles home for the past 22 years. She built her career as a Realtor, helping individuals and families find their place in the community she loves. Lion Carolyn has been a dedicated member of the The Dalles Lions Club for 22 years, joining after being invited by a fellow Lion. She is passionate about giving back and finds the greatest fulfillment in serving her community—especially through vision screening projects that help others see more clearly. Family is at the heart of Lion Carolyn’s life. She has three children, twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. When she’s not volunteering, she enjoys traveling and spending time with loved ones. For Lion Carolyn, community means working together to make things better, and she hopes to strengthen communication and connection within the club during her leadership.

Rena Huntly
New Member Chair
Lion Rena Hunley is a longtime member of the The Dalles community, where she grew up and now calls home again after years in Portland, Atlanta, and Spokane. Her professional background includes work with Georgia-Pacific in advertising and public relations, followed by a successful 25-year career in real estate. Lion Rena has a strong passion for community service, volunteering as a Chamber Ambassador, supporting Special Olympics through coaching and fundraising, and delivering meals through Meals on Wheels. She joined the The Dalles Lions Club in 2024 and enjoys contributing to a variety of projects, especially working concessions at the Natatorium. She also loves spending time with her grandsons and hopes to involve them in Lions service in the future. Lion Rena truly lives the Lions motto: “We Serve.”

Kris Harmon
Secretary
Lion Kris Harmon is a lifelong resident of The Dalles, where she has lived for 54 years. She works in nonprofit family services, supporting the community through food pantry efforts and helping meet the needs of local families. She joined after being invited and was inspired by the opportunity to be part of something that gives back and helps make the community a better place. She values being part of a positive, service-driven organization and encourages others to join, noting both the impact and the fun of working together to support neighbors in need. Program Chair
Lion Mark Kendrick grew up in Lyle and has called The Dalles home for the past 42 years. He is a retired music educator, dedicating 35 years to teaching and inspiring students. Lion Mark joined the The Dalles Lions Club about three years ago after being invited by a fellow Lion. He values both the opportunity to serve and the friendships built through the club, and appreciates being part of a fun group committed to meaningful community service. He is a proud father of two and grandfather to four granddaughters. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and collecting antiques, and shares that he was once very shy, something many might not guess today.

Jennifer Zimmerlee
PR Chair
Lion Jennifer Zimmerlee grew up in Klamath Falls and has lived in Goldendale for the past eight years. She serves as a Marketing and Communications Manager, bringing creativity and connection to her work and community involvement. Lion Jennifer joined the The Dalles Lions Club two years ago and was drawn to the club’s fun, welcoming atmosphere and its commitment to making a difference. She especially values the friendships she’s built and the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life. One of her favorite projects is helping provide flags to first graders, sharing a sense of pride and community with the next generation. At home, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Nashville and Fidget, and her five cats—Pitch, Frost, Smudge, Gaze, Sassy, and Meow Meow—also known as the “Z Crew.” In her free time, she loves reading, gardening, and caring for her animals. A fun fact: music is her passion, even though she doesn’t sing or play an instrument. For Lion Jennifer, community means sharing the love of a beautiful place in meaningful ways that make a difference. In her leadership role, she hopes to strengthen communication both within the club and throughout the community.
